What you can do in Bearberry and at the Bearberry Nordic Centre during summer time

Get away from the crowds of the national parks and explore the west country around the Bearberry Nordic Centre, the James River and the Forestry Trunk Road who will guide you to still nearly undiscovered areas all very close to our back yard.

With a little luck you will meet an abundance of deer and elk in their natural environment.

Use the hiking trails on our own property. The trails have different distances and degrees of difficulties. They will bring you up as high as approx. 1,600 meter (4,600 ft.) where you can enjoy a magnificent view to the mountains.
Bring your own horse and go for a trail ride. Barn, corrals with waterer, outdoor riding arena and feed are available at our place.

There is a lot more to do in our area like:

  • swimming in the James River (borders the property) and in the nearby Burntstick Lake with a sandy beach for kids as well
  • Or go fishing - we can arrange guided fishing tours for you. For more information about fishing licences and tours, please give us a call
  • Try your luck and dig for fossils or pan for gold
  • Bring your boat or canoe, the nearby Burntstick Lake invites you to discover its hidden beaches
  • or bring your ATV - Quad or motor-cross riding on certain areas in the forestry is allowed.
